Senator Louis P. DiPalma
Louis P. DiPalma is a Democrat representing District 12 (Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Tiverton) in the Rhode Island Senate. He is chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules, Government Ethics & Oversight, and first vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance.
Prior to being elected to the General Assembly, Sen. DiPalma served on the Middletown Town Council from 2004 to 2008.
During his time in the Senate, he has advanced legislation on a host of issues. During the most recent legislative session, he helped lead a successful push to establish a review process for Rhode Island’s Medicaid reimbursement rates for social, human, and clinical services. He was the Senate sponsor of the Identity Theft Protection Act of 2015 and the 2009 Green Buildings Act, among other legislation.
Sen. DiPalma is a 1979 graduate Notre Dame Catholic High School in Connecticut. He went on to earn a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Bridgeport in 1983 and a Master’s in Computer Science from Brown University in 1989. He is employed as a technical director for Raytheon.
